Petition in Opposition to the Requested Rezone
The wording may change slightly, but this is the spirit.
We, the undersigned, are opposed to the Request for Rezone (Z-2912) of 2.709 acres from R1B to R4W in West Lafayette. The area in question is located on the north side of Lindberg Road, between US 231 and Robinhood Lane, which is a part of the Sherwood Forest neighborhood.
In the petitioners application, the reason for request, which is optional, was left blank. Because the R4W designation was selected, the assumption is that this will be as dense as possible due to the lack of a density cap for R4W properties.
The negative and detrimental impact on the quality of life for nearby residents and wildlife (including deer, assortments of birds, woodchucks, pollinators, and more) who currently live in these woods, will be devastating if this rezone is approved. However, the APC Staff did not even consider the wildlife in their environmental analysis of their report. Our request to deny this rezoning is supported by the communityβs expressed concerns regarding quality of life, density, wildlife impact, safety, traffic, noise, and lighting in the area.
To prevent the erosion of this R1 neighborhood and to maintain its high quality of life, voting against this Request for Rezone is reasonable and justified. We look forward to your discussion.
